A small town guy comes into a pharmacy and asks the guy at the counter:

"What do you have to get rid of the darn moths?"

The pharmacist sells him a pack of mothballs.

A day later he comes in and asks for fifty packs.

"Why do you need so many?" asks the pharmacist

-"Your mothballs are great, but them darn moths are so hard to hit"

Tried to get an appointment at my surgery (Bradshaw St Pem).. No chance....the receptionist would be better employed by the UK border force... I used the Ask My GP service as the receptionist stated this was now the norm. I filled out the request highlighting my ailment...e-mailed it and eagerly awaited a reply. I was offered a telephone consultation with a technical officer ..in 3 days !! Said call was made. 3 days later ..Her opening line..."What do you want" I said have you not got the details on a screen in front of you ? No she says..I don't usually work here.. !!!.. cut a long story short...I will issue you a prescription ..it will be at the pharmacy shortly....great I said...I will pick it up....2 hrs later at Pharmacy at Bradshaw street ..Nothing here for you. After much discussion and explaining I said I would return later giving her the opportunity to trace the elusive pain killers. A short time later I got a text from Lloyds pharmacy confirming my prescription and it will arrive at my home in the next 2 - 3 days. What a waste of time.. 60 yrs I have been registered here...a joke....are we short of doctors as well as police officers.. ?....I wasn't far away from going to the walk in centre/infirmary for pain relief as nothing was easing the pain. ..Apparently I would still be queueing there yet. Good job my body has fought back and the pain is now rescinding...still waiting for my postal parcel if joy.

An article recently on MSN news says one third of UK population have given up on efforts to see their GP.

Yesterday, in the post, got a request to fill in an info sheet from one of our councillors. It states that difficulty getting a GP appointment is the most frequent complaint he currently receives.

Currently have text from my GP practice asking me to come in for blood test. Have let this drift, as last time, I had the blood tests, it took so long to get the follow up appointment with GP that they were a total waste of time.

Ena in the last few weeks I have had 2 phone consultations with the Doctor and 2 home visits,Last one resulted in my wife Yvonne being admitted to the hospital were she has been for 8 days.We also had a weekly visit from the podiatry and visits from the district nurse twice a week.Earlier this week I had a home visit from a nurse from the doctors practise to see if any health problems could be sorted not only for Yvonne but also for me. I also had two phone calls from the practice to sort out new medication for Yvonne. Never been more than" you are 3rd in the queue "to get through to reception who know my voice So no complaints about our Doctors Practice

Years ago you had to fight to get passed a battle axe receptionist who wanted to know every thing about your ailment before you got to see a doctor. I once got in an argument with a doctors receptionist and I ask her was she medically qualified or a nurse practitioner she said NO so I asked to see the doctor not get blocked by the receptionist
